if you'd liked to see what the throughput of a pipe section is, you can check out this link here. see how the longer pipe moves less water. but if you introduced 100 water into a pipe network with 10 pipes, then you'd have 10 water in each pipe after 1 tick. so for a simple example, if you introduced 100 water into a pipe network with 2 pipes, then after 1 tick, you have 50 water in both pipes. because of this, the throughput or speed of which fluid moves is based on the amount of pipes there are. the direction is made based on how it is being rebalanced.

this is why there is no direction to pipes. instead every game tick (there is 60 game ticks in a second) every pipe within the network will rebalance itself out. The way fluid moves in pipes is not a fixed rate like it is with belts. You're not going to get a proper answer because you are missing a key element to this problem and that is fluid mechanics. You are unlikely to be producing that much crude oil, which is why I recommend to not worry about pumps at all and just run a single (underground) pipe to refineries.

FACTORIO PUMP HOW TO

If you don't understand how to use pumps properly then just run several pipes in parallel (mainly using underground pipes), one per each 1000 fluid/s of throughput (or 10000% combined oil field yield). Pumps should be placed at evenly spaced intervals along the pipeline. Placing a pump just at the begining/end of a pipepline does nothing. You need to add up the output of all the pumpjacks and then figure out how frequently you need to place pumps along the pipeline to keep throughput. Long answer: The use of pumps depends on the required fluid flow:

Just pipe the output from pumpjacks to your refineries. So how many Pumpjacks a single Pump can pull from? can serve up to 6 boilersĪ single Offshore pump can serve up to 20 boilers: I mean, I assume it's similar to the Offshore Pump, in which the O.P.
